F.A.Q. Worldgistic – Find Answers to Your Questions

With over 15 years of experience in the international transport industry, we've noticed that clients often have the same questions avant de démarrer un projet avec Worldgisticㅤbefore starting a project with Worldgistic. That's why we decided to compile these questions, hoping to provide you with more precise answers when you contact us after sending your quote request.

What is the most economical kind of freight transport?

Air freight is generally more expensive than sea freight due to its speed. However, depending on the weight and volume of the goods you want to send, air freight can sometimes be more advantageous. Our advisors will always guide you on the best choice based on your needs and budget.

What are the criteria for choosing a mode of transport?

Several factors must be considered when choosing a mode of transport:

  • Your budget;
  • The urgency of your shipment;
  • The value of your goods;
  • The destination

All these criteria are discussed with our advisors, and in some cases, we calculate several options so that you can make the best decision possible.

What are the different transport documents?

Our teams will inform you of the necessary documents to prepare according to your request.

Les documents sont différents si c’est un envoi commercial (liste de colisage et facture commercial) ou si c’est un a relocation (detailed and itemized inventory along with a certificate of change of residence).

Don't worry, we help you prepare these documents so that your file is complete when the goods depart.

What is a transportation planning?

The transport plan is the method of moving goods from point A to point B using the company's available human and material resources. This is also known as a door-to-door service.

How to calculate volume of shipment?

Air freight is calculated based on volumetric weight. The client will be charged on the higher of the weight, whether it is the gross weight or the actual volumetric weight.

• Gross weight = the weight of the goods (kg, ton, or pounds)
• Volumetric weight = (cubic volume of the goods) x 1000 x (1/6)

The weight of air shipments typically ranges between 100 and 300 kilograms or between 1 and 2 cubic meters.

For sea freight, volume is more important than weight. Clients have two options:

• LCL (Less Than Container Load): This is a cost-effective option for small shipments. Some customers with only a few cubic meters of goods do not need to use and pay for a full container , which is therefore not optimized. This LCL option is therefore perfect for them. It is a groupage or consolidation, which means that several customers share a container going to the same destination.
• FCL (Full Container Load): Containers allow you to load your own freight and track the journey's progress. Here, you do not share anything.

For your reference, here are the container sizes:

• Conteneur 20’DC : 32 CBM
• Conteneur 40’DC : 64 CBM
• Conteneur 40’HQ : 71 CBM
